The increasingly strict emission regulations require diesel engines to use necessary post-treatment purification devices while using clean fuels and internal purification. Particle trap (DPF) is the most commonly used post-treatment technology for PM emissions.
Compared with cordierite, SiC has better heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and thermal conductivity. The heat resistance temperature and thermal conductivity of SiC are much higher than those of cordierite, and the mechanical strength is also greatly improved, which can withstand even harsher regeneration environments. Moreover, the pore structure of SiC has better adjustability, allowing for the preparation of filter materials with higher porosity and more uniform pore size distribution. The advantages of high porosity and strong thermal diffusion ability can make the temperature field distribution inside the filter more uniform. When regenerating with the same amount of carbon deposition, the maximum temperature inside the filter is much lower than that of cordierite, ensuring good regeneration safety performance.
